LimeWire magnet request directory traversal

limewire-magnet-directory-traversal (19695) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

LimeWire is a file sharing application running on the Gnutella Network for Microsoft Windows and Unix-based operating systems. LimeWire versions 3.9.6 through 4.6.0 could allow a remote attacker to traverse directories on the Web server, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input in magnet requests. A remote attacker could Telnet to the LimeWire client magnet TCP port, which is the default port, and send a specially-crafted HTTP magnet request containing "dot dot" sequences (/../) to traverse directories and view directory listings and arbitrary files outside of the Web root directory.
