AN HTTPD Server cmdIS.DLL plug-in buffer overflow
| an-httpd-cmdisdll-bo (20029) |
Description:
AN HTTPD Server is vulnerable to a buffer overflow caused by improper bounds checking of user-supplied input in the cmdIS.DLL plug-in. The AN HTTPD Server fails to properly filter received URI before it is written to the logfile. By sending a long string containing 8300 bytes in the user-agent, host, or accept-encoding HTTP headers, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and inject arbitrary commands into the logfile to corrupt the logfile or cause the server to crash.
Note: In order to exploit this vulnerability, a BAT file must be present on the server that uses the set command. The cmdIS.DLL must also be accessible from the document root.
