Description:

The tcpdump utility is vulnerable to a denial of service attack caused by a vulnerability in the rsvp_print() function. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted RSVP packet to cause tcpdump to enter into an infinite loop and stop responding.

Remedy:

Apply the latest version of tcpdump CVS-current, available from the tcpdump Web site. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of tcpdump (3.8.3-r2 or later), as listed in Gentoo Linux Security Announcement GLSA 200505-06. See References.
