Golden FTP Server username parameter buffer overflow

golden-username-bo (20299) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

KMiNT21 Software's Golden FTP Server Pro is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow caused by improper bounds checking of user-supplied input in the log parsing when handling entries in the gftppro.log log file. By sending a long argument containing 336 bytes to the USER FTP command when logging in, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the server to crash once the argument is viewed by the administrative user. The server must be restarted and the gftppro.log file must be removed prior to regaining normal functionality.
