LibTIFF BitsPerSample tag buffer overflow

Description:
LibTIFF is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow caused by a vulnerability in the BitsPerSample tag. By sending a specially-crafted TIFF image containing a malformed BitsPerSample tag, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the system to crash.

Remedy:
For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of tiff (3.7.2 or later), as listed in GLSA 200505-07. See References.
For Ubuntu Linux:
Upgrade tothe latest version of tiff (3.6.1-1.1ubuntu1.3 or 3.6.1-5ubuntu0.1 or later), as listed in USN-130-1. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (Sarge):
Upgrade to the latest version of tiff (3.7.2-3 or later), as listed in DSA-755-1. See References.
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
