Description:

phpBB is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. A remote attacker could post a specially-crafted URL to the bbcode.php script containing embedded BBcode in the make_clickable function which, once the entry is viewed, would be executed within the security context of the hosting site.

Platforms Affected:

  • Gentoo, Linux
  • phpBB, phpBB prior to 2.0.15

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of phpBB (2.0.15 or later), available from the phpBB Download Web page. See References.

For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of phpbb (2.0.15 or later), as listed in GLSA 200505-10. See References.

For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
