Description:
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 896422 is not installed, which could allow a remote attacker to exploit the following vulnerability:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a vulnerability in the process used to validate SMB (Server Message Block) packets. SMB is a client server protocol used for file and printer sharing for Microsoft Windows and Unix-based operating systems. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted message to gain complete control of a victim's system, cause a denial of service, or gain local privileges.
