Sudo pathname race condition
| sudo-pathname-race-condition (21080) |
Description:
Sudo (superuser do) is vulnerable to a race condition caused by a vulnerability in the pathname validation. A local attacker, using a specific configuration, could use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system or perform a symlink attack, if a sudoers entry that contains the 'ALL' pseduo-command follows a user's sudoers entry.
Note: Exploitation requires that the user have permission to run multiple commands via Sudo and be able to create symbolic links in the filesystem. Additionally, a sudoers entry that gives a second user access to the ALL pseudo-command must come immediately after the user's sudoers entry in order for this race condition to exist.
