Description:
Cacti could allow a remote attacker to include malicious PHP files caused by improper validation of user-supplied input in the config_settings.php script. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted URL to the config_settings.php script using the include_path variable to include a malicious file from a remote system which would enable the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system with privileges of the Web server process.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Cacti (0.8.6e or later), available from the Cacti Download Web page. See References.
As a workaround, ensure access to the Web server is limited to trusted hosts.
For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of cacti (0.8.6e or later), as listed in GLSA 200506-20. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (Sarge):
Upgrade to the latest version of cacti (0.8.6c-7sarge2 or later), as listed in DSA-764-1. See References.
