Linux kernel subthread exec signal denial of service
| kernel-subthread-dos (21138) |
Description:
Linux kernel is vulnerable to a denial of service attack caused by a vulnerability in the subthread exec signal processing. A local attacker could use this vulnerability to cause a kernel panic, resulting in a denial of service.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Linux Kernel (2.6.12.1 or later), avaialble from The Linux Kernel Archives Web page. See References.
For Ubuntu Linux:
Refer to USN-178-1 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
