crip editcomment and editfilenames symlink attack

crip-symlink (21223) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

crip creates insecure temporary files. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a symbolic link which, once the link is clicked, would allow the attacker to create or overwrite arbitrary files on the system with the privileges of the targeted user running editcomment or editfilenames.

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (sarge):
Upgrade to the latest version of crip (3.5-1sarge2 or later), as listed in DSA-733-1. See References.

For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
