Cacti graph.php post cookie SQL injection
| cacti-graph-post-cookie-sql-injection (21266) |
Description:
Cacti is vulnerable to SQL injection caused by improper validation of user-supplied input in the graph.php script. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted URL request containing malicious POST or COOKIE strings which would allow the attacker to add, modify, or delete data from the database or possibly gain unauthorized access to the administrative password.
Platforms Affected:
- Cacti, Cacti 0.8.6e
- Debian, Debian Linux 3.0
- Debian, Debian Linux 3.1
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Cacti (0.8.6f or later), available from the Cacti Download Web page. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (Sarge):
Upgrade to the latest version of Sarge (0.8.6c-7sarge2 or later), as listed in DSA-764-1. See References.
Consequences:
Data Manipulation

- CVE-2005-2148: Cacti 0.8.6e and earlier does not perform proper input validation to protect against common attacks, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands or SQL by sending a legitimate value in a POST request or cookie, then specifying the attack string in the URL, which causes the get_request_var function to return the wrong value in the $_REQUEST variable, which is cleansed while the original malicious $_GET value remains unmodified, as demonstrated in (1) graph_image.php and (2) graph.php.
