Microsoft Windows telephony service buffer overflow

Description:
Microsoft Windows could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a buffer overflow in the Telephony service when data and permissions are validated. The Telephony service is used to support Telephony Application Programming Interface-based applications (TAPI). A remote or local attacker could send a specially-crafted message to allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system or gain elevated privileges. The level of risk and whether the overflow can be exploited remotely or locally is dependent the type and configuration of the operating system.
