Description:

Process Explorer is vulnerable to a buffer overflow caused by a vulnerability when parsing the VersionInfo data of a running process. A local attacker could create a specially-crafted executable file with a long CompanyName value which, when the process is viewed by the victim, could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the victim.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Process Explorer (9.24 or later), available from the Process Explorer Web site. See References.
