Description:
Simpleproxy is vulnerable to a format string attack caused by a vulnerability when handling replies from a HTTP proxy. A remote attacker could use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system.
Platforms Affected:
- Debian, Debian Linux 3.1
- Simpleproxy, Simpleproxy prior to 3.4
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Simpleproxy (3.4 or later), available from the SourceForge.net Web site. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (sarge):
Upgrade to the latest version of Simpleproxy (3.2-3sarge1 or later), as listed in DSA-786-1. See References.
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
