An instance of the mSQL Database server has been detected
| msql-detect (2211) |
Description:
An instance of the mSQL Database server has been detected. mSQL is a popular freely available SQL database server for Unix systems. mSQL has had security problems in the past and access to the server should be restricted to authorized and trusted users.
Platforms Affected:
- Compaq, Tru64
- Data General, DG/UX
- HP, HP-UX
- Hughes Technologies, mSQL
- IBM, AIX
- Linux, Kernel
- SCO, SCO Unix
- SGI, IRIX
- Sun, Solaris
- WindRiver, BSDOS
Remedy:
Unauthorized or unneeded mSQL server processes should be terminated on affected hosts. If the server is determined to be legitimate, it would be wise to consider allowing connections only from trusted hosts as the integrated security in mSQL is not very robust.
Consequences:
