Description:

Open WebMail is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. A remote or local attacker could send a specially-crafted URL to the openwebmail-main.pl script containing embedded script in the sessionid parameter which, once the link is clicked, would be executed in the victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting site. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

  • Open WebMail, Open WebMail 2.41 and prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Open WebMail (2.52 or later), available from the Open WebMail Web site. See References.
