Malformed oshare packet denial of service

Description:
Windows 98 is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by the receipt of malformed oshare packets. An attacker can send a malformed oshare packet to cause the computer to crash with a blue screen message. The computer must be restarted to regain normal functionality.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Windows 98, available from the Windows 98 Windows Update Web site. See References.
