Linux kernel sysctl interface denial of service
| kernel-sysctl-interface-dos (23040) |
Description:
Linux kernel is vulnerable to a denial of service caused by a vulnerability in the sysctl interface when unregistering interfaces in /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Linux Kernel (2.6.14.1 or later), available from The Linux Kernel Archives Web page. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux:
Refer to DSA-1018-2 or DSA-1017-1 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For Red Hat Linux:
Refer to RHSA-2006:0101-9, RHSA-2006:0140-9, RHSA-2006:0190-5, or RHSA-2006:0191-9 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For Ubuntu Linux:
Refer to USN-219-1 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
