Microsoft Internet Explorer HTTPS proxy authentication information disclosure
| ie-https-proxy-information-disclosure (23451) |
Description:
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.01, 5.5 and 6 running on Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows Me could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by a vulnerability in the handling of authentication requests made to a proxy server for HTTPS communications. If a client system is configured to use Basic Authentication to a proxy server for HTTPS communications, a remote attacker could use man-in-the-middle techniques to recover authentication credentials that are transmitted between the client and proxy server when a user visits a Web site that uses HTTPS.
