WebEx ActiveX control DLL code execution

web-conferencing-code-injection (24370) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

The WebEx ActiveX control could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on a victim's system. WebEx uses ActiveX to download additional components needed to host or attend a Web conference. The additional components are not validated, nor the location from which they are downloaded. This could allow the attacker to create a malicious Web page that would initialize the WebEx ActiveX control, and download and initialize a DLL of their choice, once a victim visits the page. By placing malicious code in the initialization routine of the DLL, the attacker could execute arbitrary code under the security context of the user viewing the malicious Web page.
