Description:
MediaWiki is vulnerable to a denial of service attack caused by improper handling of edit comment formatting. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a malformed URL to cause an infinite loop, which would result in a denial of service.
Platforms Affected:
- Wikimedia Foundation, MediaWiki 1.4.x before 1.4.14
- Wikimedia Foundation, MediaWiki 1.5.x before 1.5.6
Remedy:
For MediaWiki 1.4.x:
Upgrade to the latest version of MediaWiki (1.4.14 or later), available from the MediaWiki Download Web page. See References.
For MediaWiki 1.3.x:
Upgrade to the latest version of MediaWiki (1.5.6 or later), available from the MediaWiki Download Web page. See References.
