Microsoft HTML Help Workshop .hhp file buffer overflow
| mshtmlhelp-workshop-hhp-bo (24481) |
Description:
Microsoft HTML Help Workshop is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds of .hhp files. By creating a malicious .hhp file with an overly long "Contents file" field, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on a victim's system, once the victim opens the malicious file. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by hosting the file on a Web site or sending it to a victim as an email attachment.
