Description:

Crossfire is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the oldsocketmode module. By activating the oldsocketmode option and sending an overly long request, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and cause the Crossfire server to crash or execute arbitrary code on the system.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Crossfire (1.9.0 or later), available from the Crossfire Web site. See References.
