KDE kpdf patch buffer overflow

kde-kpdf-patch-bo (25146) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

kpdf is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by incomplete patches. By creating a malicious PDF file with overly large numComps (number of components) value, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the system with privileges of the kpdf process. Exploitation of this vulnerability would require the attacker to deliver the malicious PDF file to a potential victim, either by hosting the file on a Web site or sending it to the victim as an email attachment, and then the victim would have to open the file using Xpdf.
