Apple Mac OS X open safe files after downloading command execution

macosx-safefiletype-command-execution (25269) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

Apple Mac OS X could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the system, caused by improper validation of file types by the Safari, LaunchServices, and CoreTypes components. This vulnerability would allow an attacker to trick a user into opening a malicious shell script that would appear to be a file type that is safe for opening. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a victim to visit a malicious Web page or by sending a malicious HTML email attachment.

Note: This is a variation of the vulnerability described in US-CERT Vulnerability Note VU#999708.
