Description:

Cherokee Web Server is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input by the cherokee/handler_error.c. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using the build_hardcoded_response_page() function to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the link is clicked and an error page is returned, allowing the attacker to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Cherokee Webserver (0.5.1 or later), available from the Cherokee Web Server Web site. See references.
