xzgv and zgv JPEG image parsing buffer overflow
| xzgv-jpeg-bo (25718) |
Description:
xzgv is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow caused by improper bounds checking of JPEG images. By creating a specially-crafted JPEG image, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system, if a victim views the image within the CMYK/YCCK color space.
Consequences:

Remedy:
Apply the patch for this vulnerability, available from the xzgv Web page. See References.
For SUSE Linux:
Refer to SUSE Security Summary Report SUSE-SR:2006:008 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
