Linux kernel _keyring_search_one() denial of service

linux-keyringsearchone-dos (25722) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

Linux kernel could allow a local attacker to cause a denial of service when adding a new key, caused by a vulnerability in the _keyring_search_one() function. An attacker could send a specially-crafted keyctl request to cause the system to crash.

Consequences:

Denial of Service

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest stable version of Linux kernel (2.6.16.3 or later), available from The Linux Kernel Archives. See References.

For Red Hat Linux:
Refer to RHSA-2006:0493-6 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
