Clam AntiVirus Freshclam HTTP buffer overflow
| clamav-freshclam-http-bo (26182) |
Description:
Clam AntiVirus is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow in the Freshclam command line utility. By sending an overly long HTTP header to the Freshclam HTTP client, a remote attacker in control of a malicious Web server could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on a victim's system or cause the application to crash.
Note: In order to exploit this vulnerability, the attacker would need to persuade a victim to connect to a malicious ClamAV mirror to receive virus updates.
Platforms Affected:
- Clam Anti-Virus, ClamAV 0.80 - 0.88.1
- Debian, Debian Linux 3.1
- Gentoo, Linux
