Microsoft Office hlink.dll COM object buffer overflow
| excel-hlink-bo (27224) |
Description:
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of hyperlinks by the hlink.dll library. By creating a malicious Office document containing a specially-crafted hyperlink, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system if the attacker could persuade a potential victim to open the malicious document and click the specially-crafted link.
