Microsoft Internet Explorer HTA SMB file share command execution

ie-hta-fileshare-command-execution (27456) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

Microsoft Internet Explorer could allow a remote attacker to execute HTA files (HTML Applications) on a victim's system. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a Web page containing a link to an SMB file share filename with encoded '..\' (%2e%2e%5c) sequences, which could allow the attacker to execute HTA files on a victim's system with the permissions of the victim, if a victim could be persuaded to double-click in the malicious page. It may be possible for an attacker to use this vulnerability and gain complete control over the victim's system.
