GIMP xcf_load_vector() file buffer overflow

gimp-xcfloadvector-bo (27687) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

GIMP is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the xcf_lead_vector() function in app/xcf/xcf-load.c, caused by improper bounds checking of XCF files. By creating a malicious XCF file containing an overly long "num_axes" value, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the application to crash, if the attacker could persuade a victim to open the malicious file. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by hosting the file on a Web site or sending it to a victim as an email attachment.
