Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) malformed IP packet denial of service

cisco-ips-ip-packet-dos (27692) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

Multiple Cisco IDS/IPS devices running certain versions of Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) software are vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by improper handling of malformed packets by the custom device driver for Intel-based gigabit network adapters. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malformed IP packet to cause an affected device to stop processing packets and become inaccessible.
