Description:

Mail2Forum module for phpBB could allow a remote attacker to include arbitrary files. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted URL request to multiple scripts using the m2f_root_path parameter to specify a malicious file from a remote system, which could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.

Note: The following scripts are reported to be vulnerable:
m2f_phpbb204.php
m2f_forum.php
m2f_mailinglist.php
m2f_cron.php

Platforms Affected:

  • phpBB, Mail2Forum module for phpBB 1.2 and prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Mail2Forum (1.2.2 or later), available from the Mail2Forum Web site. See References.
