Apple Mac OS X LaunchServices Safe HTML script execution
| macosx-launchservices-script-execution (28146) |
Description:
Apple Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server could allow a remote attacker to bypass cross-domain security restrictions and execute arbitrary script on a victim's system. The LaunchServices component incorrectly identifies certain HTML files as "Safe" for opening. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a victim to download a specially-crafted HTML file containing malicious JavaScript, which would be executed on the victim's system once the file is opened.
Note: The malicious HTML file would automatically be executed on the victim's system, if the victim is using Safari and the "Open safe files after downloading" option is enabled.
