Description:

DConnect Daemon is vulnerable to a denial of service attack caused by a NULL pointer dereference error by the dc_chat() function in cmd.dc.c. A remote attacker could send a message before sending the nickname to cause the service to crash.

Platforms Affected:

  • Direct Connect Daemon, DConnect Daemon prior to 0.7.0

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest CVS release of DConnect Daemon, available from the DConnect Daemon Web site. See References.
