Description:

AlsaPlayer is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the reconnect() function in reader/http/http.c. By sending an HTTP request containing a specially-crafted 'Location' HTTP response header, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Platforms Affected:

  • AlsaPlayer, AlsaPlayer 0.99.76 and prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of AlsaPlayer (0.99.77 or later), available from the AlsaPlayer Web site. See References.
