gzip unpack.c buffer underflow
| gzip-unpack-buffer-underflow (29042) |
Description:
gzip is vulnerable to a buffer underflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the build_tree function in unpack.c. By creating a malicious gzip file, a remote attacker could cause a buffer underflow and cause the application to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code on the system, if the attacker could persuade the victim to open the malicious file.
