Description:

Microsoft Windows XP is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Windows NAT Helper Components (ipnathlp.dll). A remote attacker on a shared network could send a specially-crafted DNS query to a vulnerable system to cause the ipnathlp.dll process to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Note: Successful exploitation requires that Internet Connection Sharing is enabled.
