Marshal MailMarshal ARJ archive code execution
| mailmarshal-arj-code-execution (30188) |
Description:
Marshal MailMarshal could allow a remote attacker to traverse directories and gain complete control of the vulnerable system, caused by improper validation of extracted file names in ARJ archives. An attacker could create a malicious compressed ARJ archive file containing file names with "dot dot" sequences (/../), which could be used to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system once the malicious archive is extracted and scanned after a system restart. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending the malicious file as an email attachment.
