Symantec VERITAS NetBackup bpcd.exe long request buffer overflow
| netbackup-long-request-bo (30882) |
Description:
Multiple versions of Symantec Veritas NetBackup products are vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the NetBackup service (bpcd.exe) when requests are passed to the NetBackup Master or Media server. By sending an overly long request to the Master or Media server on a vulnerable system, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary commands on the system with the privileges of the bpcd.exe daemon.
