Computer Associates (CA) BrightStor ARCserve Backup Message Engine RPC buffer overflow
| brightstor-messageengine-rpc-bo (31443) |
Description:
Multiple Computer Associates (CA) BrightStor ARCserve backup products are vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the handler functions for RPC opnum 0x2F and 0x75 in the Message Engine service. By sending specially-crafted packets to the RPC interface on a vulnerable system, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.
