Apple Safari HTML comment cross-site scripting
| safari-html-comment-xss (31846) |
Description:
Apple Safari could allow a remote attacker to bypass cross-site scripting protection and perform cross-site scripting attacks on vulnerable Web applications. Safari fails to properly parse HTML tags within HTML comments. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute malicious script within a victim's Web browser within the security context of the targeted site by embedding malicious script within HTML tags in a specially-crafted URL. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
