GOM Player ASX buffer overflow
| gomplayer-asx-bo (32164) |
Description:
GOM Player is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of Advanced Stream Redirector (.ASX) files. By creating a malformed ASX file containing an overly long URI in the "ref href" tag and persuading a victim to open the file, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by hosting the malicious file on a Web site or sending it as an email attachment.
