Description:
µTorrent is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of torrent files. By persuading a victim to open a torrent file with an overly long announce URL, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.
Platforms Affected:
- µTorrent, µTorrent 1.6 b474 and prior
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of uTorrent (1.6 build 489 or later), available from the uTorrent Web site. See References.
