VeriSign ConfigChk ActiveX Control buffer overflow
| verisign-configchk-bo (32639) |
Description:
The VeriSign ConfigChk ActiveX Control (VSCnfChk.dll), which is used in multiple VeriSign products, is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the VerCompare() method. By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted Web page or open a specially-crafted HTML email that passes an overly long argument to the VerCompare() method, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the victim.
