Lighttpd mtime denial of service

Description:

Lighttpd is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by the improper handling of files. By sending a request for a file with a mtime of 0 (zero), a remote attacker with access to upload a file or manipulate the mtime could exploit this vulnerability to trigger a NULL pointer dereference.

Platforms Affected:

  • Debian, Debian Linux 4.0
  • Gentoo, Linux
  • lighttpd, lighttpd 1.3.x and prior
  • lighttpd, lighttpd 1.4.x and prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Lighttpd (1.4.15 or later), available from the Lighttpd Web site. See References.
