McAfee VirusScan Enterprise On-Access scanner component buffer overflow

mcafee-onaccess-bo (33732) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the On-Access scanner component. By creating a specially-crafted file with an overly long filename containing multi-byte characters, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the application to crash.

Note: In order to exploit this vulnerability, the system must have East Asia language files already installed with a default Unicode codepage set to a language that contains multi-byte characters.
