Microsoft Excel BIFF file format buffer overflow
| excel-biff-file-bo (33913) |
Description:
Microsoft Excel is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper handling of the Excel BIFF file format. By persuading a victim to open an Excel file containing a specially-crafted Named Graph record, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the victim. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by hosting the malicious file on a Web site or sending it to a victim as an email attachment.
